What Is Whitelisting? (And How Much to Charge for It)

Whitelisting means a brand runs paid ads through your account, so the ad shows your name and handle instead of theirs. It's worth more to the brand than an organic post, so it should cost more.

What it looks like on each platform

  • TikTok Spark Ads: you create a Spark Ads code and share it with the brand. The code runs for a set period you choose (options include 7, 30, 60 or 365 days); when it ends, ads using it stop.
  • Meta (Instagram and Facebook) partnership ads, formerly branded content ads: the ad runs with both your account and the brand's in the header. You can give permission for a single post or at account level.

How much to charge

Whitelisting is usually priced per month on top of your content fee; 2026 UGC rate guides put it at about 15–30% of the content fee a month. On a 500 video, two months at 20% is 200.

It's separate from usage rights. Usage rights let the brand run your content as an ad from their account; whitelisting lets them run it from yours. A brand can want both.

What to agree in writing

  1. How long, with an end date (and match the Spark code or permission to it).
  2. Which platforms, and whether it's one post or account-level access.
  3. Whether you see or approve the ad copy that runs under your name.
  4. That access is removed at the end, and what renewing costs.

FAQs

What is whitelisting in influencer marketing?

A brand running paid ads through a creator's account, so the ad appears under the creator's name, for example TikTok Spark Ads or Meta partnership ads.

How much should I charge for whitelisting?

Usually per month on top of your content fee; 15–30% of the content fee a month is a common range.

Is whitelisting the same as usage rights?

No. Usage rights let a brand run your content from its own account; whitelisting lets it run ads from yours.
